Visit of the Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Slovenia to Vila Vipolže

On Friday, 29 September 2023, Vila Vipolže was the venue for a visit by 70 Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Slovenia from all continents of the world. The first glimpses of the terraced cross-border landscape were first conjured up for the distinguished guests in Gonjače, where the picturesque views from the lookout tower encompassed all the charm of this land of ours beyond the emerald Soča. This was followed by the discovery of the Brda Cellar, a cooperative winery whose story is co-created by 400 Brda families.

The panel in Vipolže, which focused on what Honorary Consuls can do to promote Slovenia, Brda and, above all, our wines, was opened by Tina Novak Samec, Director of the Brda TCMMŠ, and Vesna Humar, State Secretary at the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad and Internationally, with opening remarks by the host, Tanja Fajon, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs. In addition to the Honorary Consuls, the round table was also attended by Aleš Musar, the spouse of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, and the CEOs of prominent companies.

Seven of the most prominent wine houses in Britian shared their views on wine in diplomacy at the panel: Klet Brda (Andrej Brun), Movia Wines (Aleš Kristančič), Simcic wines - Marjan Simčič (Marjan Simčič), Edi Simcic winery (Aleks Simčič), Medot Wines (Simon Simčič), Ferdinand Winery (Matjaž Četrtič), DOLFO Wines / DOLFO Wines (Marko Skočaj). In addition to the winemakers, the delegation was also treated to a meal by Kruh in vino, Villa Vipolže, Brataševec olive oil mill (Villa Eva eco olive oil) and the Brda's women in ladies association. The visit of the distinguished guests to Brda was made possible by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Slovenian Government Office for Slovenians Abroad and Worldwide, and the Slovenian Tourist Board. The visit was hosted by the Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon.
